Marriott International is known to be among the best of hotels when one talks about hospitality businesses. Marriott is by far among the most luxurious chain of hotels in the whole world. This will now be done away with, For once; guests may enjoy using a more advanced Internet-based Video On Demand system. The pay-per-view movies in their rooms had these hotels making quite some money. This revenue source is however fading with time. This is even as newer business travelers nowadays checking into the hotel rooms have their own source of entertainment. This may again be in the form of Netflix DVDs, iPod Touch and laptop among others. They are thus looking at offering their own Video On Demand services in the rooms even as the revenue coming from the pay-per-view movie rentals has gone down by as much as thirty nine percent in the past decade.

SYNDICATION OF BBC CONTENT AND ITS ACCIDENTAL PENALTY

VOD has taken to the scene and big time at that. For once people are one and all looking forward to viewing content of their desire and wish. Unlike it is the case with a normal viewing schedule as is given out by a channel. People have to simply view what is listed. On the other hand, VOD service has them choose from a list of content that again caters to people of one and all ages. Sky Anytime+ VOD which is the upgraded version of their earlier VOD service has taken the very scene by storm. Then there are the other leading broadcasters who also have their VOD offerings in place. This is true for everyone right from BT to Virgin and BBC.

Then comes the talk of branding a VOD service. The BBC is firm in its desire to retain the look and feel of its service. This is for wherever the viewer might access to it. Sky and Virgin at the same time have also complained that they aren’t that big fans of the latest BBC syndication policy. This policy for once doesn’t allow third party getting access to the BBC iPlayer. BBC is firm not to allow these other parties to even touch any of their owned content. Thus if one considers the recently stated proposals from BBC Trust, other platforms may not have access to the BBC content at all, as simple as that. For once, Sky Anytime+ VOD may not get any of the BBC shows which, a strict no-no. For once, Sky Anytime+ VOD otherwise gets syndicated content and get access to them from Sky One, National Geographic, History Channel or Disney Channel.
